This 65-piece homeowner's set includes all the tools needed to complete basic DIY projects around the home. The tools are packaged in a blow molded case for easy tool storage and portability. All Stanley ratchets, sockets and wrenches are manufactured globally to Stanley specifications, meeting and often exceeding ANSI specification. Stanley drive tools are forged from high-quality steel to maximize project performance. The Stanley ratchet handles are ergonomically designed and have a thumb-operated reverse-switch mechanism. In addition, the Stanley sockets feature the Max-Drive design, providing improved torque and reduced fastener wear.

What's In The Box

The Stanley 94-248 65-piece general homeowner's tool set includes one 13-ounce hammer, one 16-foot tape rule, one 18mm snap-off knife, one torpedo level, one long nose and one slip joint pliers, one Phillips screwdriver, one standard tip screwdriver, eight SAE and eight metric hex keys, one 1/4-inch round-head ratchet, eight SAE 1/4-inch sockets, one 1/4-inch spinner handle, one 1/4-inch bit holder, and 30 bits.

Tool Breakdown

16-Foot Tape Rule (30-495)

The perfect size for any job around the house, this 16-foot tape features the Tru-Zero end hook for accurate measurements. The 3/4-inch blade has a polymer coating to help withstand abrasion. The easy-to-find yellow case is made with a high-impact ABS for added durability. The tape rule also has convenient stud center markings at 16-inch and 19.2-inch, and a belt clip.

13-Ounce Hammer

Made of fiberglass, this 13-ounce hammer helps reduce vibrations, while still providing the “feel of wood”. Easily tap in nails or remove them with the curve claw. Exclusive rim temper reduces incidences of chipping.

18MM Snap-Off Knife (10-280)

Easily cut through cardboard boxes, packages and more. Made with stainless steel and high impact polymer components, this 6-3/4-inch knife features a smooth slider mechanism that provides an audible "click" and self-locks for security. With a removable blade snapper in the cap of the knife, each of the 13 blade sections conveniently snaps off, to provide fresh, sharp cutting points for every new task you have.

Torpedo Level (42-291)

When hanging pictures on the wall, make sure they are straight with this 8-inch magnetic level. Made of high-impact ABS plastic for durability, this level features a top-reading vial that allows visibility from the top. Each of the three 360-degree vials is tinted for readability.

Long Nose Pliers (84-101)

Featuring a long nose to get into those hard-to-reach areas, these 6-inch pliers have a fixed joint design with a 1-inch jaw. The handle has a comfortable grip while using for bending, turning and cutting.

Slip Joint Pliers (84-097)

With a comfortable grip, these 6-inch pliers offer two locking positions with a 1/2-inch jaw for grasping and turning.

Two-Piece Screwdriver Set

These two common screwdrivers will help you with a wide range of your fastening needs. The handles are ergonomically designed with a slip-resistant textured grip for a comfortable hold. The 4-inch bars are chrome vanadium to resist corrosion and feature a magnetic tip for a secure grip on fasteners. The set includes the #2 Phillips screwdriver (65-167) and the 1/4-inch standard tip screwdriver (65-191).

Mechanics Tools

The mechanics tools included are a 1/4–inch round head, full polish ratchet (85-890) and 8 SAE 1/4-inch sockets, a 1/4-inch spinner handle (86-004), a 1/4-inch bit holder (86-124), and 30 specialty bits. The two hex key sets come in durable caddies to keep keys organized, one for the 8 SAE keys and a separate one for the 8 metric keys.

I have bought 3 or these, all for folks who have two left thumbs, just bought houses, and who I know do not own any tools and I know need just the basics. Everyone should have a toolkit around, even an inexpensive one, because you never know when a nice, friendly neighbor will come over and offer to fix stuff for you…you just need the tools ! 😉

All of the tools feel durable and seems to be made of good quality (but don’t quote me on that because this is my first set of tools). I’ve been told by my uncles that Stanley makes pretty good tools for an affordable price so I went with this tool kit. I have no problem with the snap-on hardcover case. It closes very easily and stores well. I also don’t have a problem with the tools falling out once they’re in the case. You’ll actually hear a “snap” sound once the tools are placed correctly in their slots, so that nothing will fall out when you close the case. I’m pretty satisfied with this tool kit since it has basically everything I need for around the house.

I got this tool set for my fiancé’s birthday, and as soon as he saw it, he was extremely happy! Some tools did fall out of their places during the shipping process, which made me think the shippers really tossed this thing around because when we put the tools back, you could tell that they were very secure in their places. He loved the quality of the tools and that they were oiled up and ready for whenever he needed to use them. He was really excited that it came with the ratchet driver, which was something I specifically looked for because he originally wanted just a ratchet driver by itself for his birthday. This has everything he needs and wants, and he couldn’t stop thanking me for it. He even showed it off to his brother, whom he just got tools for for his birthday. Haha!

I bought this as a gift for my brother-in-law’s birthday. He absolutely loves it. It has everything he needs for almost every household job and provides tools for a large variety of projects. I’ve also used these tools while helping him and the quality is definitely there and I would buy this kit for myself if I didn’t already have everything. This is defintely worth the money.

If you have few or no tools, this will get you started

I purchased this set for a Christmas present. It was my son’s first tool set. I choose Stanley because of their quality tools, 98% of his dad’s tools are Stanley, many of them he has had for many, many moons! Let’s just say over 20 years. He was so happy! It is nice to build his tool set a little at a time and the case will keep them all organized and keep them from getting misplaced until he has enough tools to get a larger cabinet to hold all his tools. I wanted him to have a set of tools that would last him a lifetime and I am very confident this set will!

Got this for my boyfriend because he didn’t have a tool set. I asked him which one he wanted, this or the Black & Decker kit, he chose this one. He said the Stanley brand is better (the B&D kit was actually more expensive though because it came with a power drill, but he said that brand is cheaply made). Anyway, as a starter kit or go-to kit, it’s perfect for any guy. He also likes that it comes with a hardshell plastic case to keep everything organized.

Great tool set! I just moved into my new home and needed some tools to hang up pictures, put together furniture, and take care of small household maintenance projects. Works like a charm, sturdy pieces that don’t feel cheap or flimsy. My only complaint is that the allen wrenches constantly fall out of their place so I have to keep putting them back where they belong. Other than that – love this set!

Good Basic Tool Set

 on December 31, 2014
By Marjie, Mother of 9
I bought this for my daughter, who indicated she wanted some tools for Christmas. She lives a couple hundred miles from home, so Daddy can’t just come help her with things. It has the basic tools, which seem to be good quality – the set was chosen specifically for the Stanley brand. Everything a simple homeowner/car owner needs is in this – screwdrivers, hammer, pliers, tape measure, etc. So it’s good for hanging curtain rods, pictures, assembling DIY furniture, etc. Obviously, this isn’t the set for the handyman who can do everything, or for the mechanic who keeps his car in good repair himself, but it’s great for when you just need to do one simple thing or another.

Good set of essentials for college, good quality for the price

 on August 21, 2016
I got this to use while I’m in college because it’s easy to transport when I move and has the essential items. It is a very versatile kit of good quality, especially for the price. The tools take a little more care to put in the case in a way that prevents them from falling out (have to press hard to get them to snap in securely), but once I did, everything stayed in place. Some of the screw driver heads are a little tight and I would have preferred them to be easier to remove from the screwdriver handle, but they still do the job. The flathead and Phillips screw drivers are magnetic, the individual removable heads are not. I used it to assemble a dresser and it worked very well. As others have said, the biggest thing missing is an adjustable wrench, which is available from Stanley for $8 if you find you need one
