F3HR gimmick? Not in my opinion!

Got mine last week from REI -> Coming from the F2 then F3 this is a worthy upgrade. It essentially is the F3 sapphire with a optical HR sensor recording 24×7 HR data, including resting HR data. I enjoy the new strap as well – slightly softer and a touch more give then the rubber F3 strap. The bezel also does away with the red accents replacing them with silver. Also the sapphire glass is flat not domed.
Better than the other activity trackers overall, but has room for improvement.

As Im writing this review, it will be my second full week of using the Garmin Fenix 3 HR (w/HRM-Run).
Absolutely the best sports / smart watch out there…

I love sport watches and have had the Apple Watch, Fitbit Surge and both Microsoft Bands. Also tried a few other models. This watch is light-years beyond all of those. First and foremost, this is a beautiful, manly watch that looks classy – not like an ugly mini-iPhone on my wrist – even my wife likes the look and she has hated every sport watch I have owned. My wrist is small and it still looks great. The watch has a crazy week+ battery life (even with frequent use of GPS for workouts). It tracks every metric you can think of including running, cycling, weight training, snowboarding/skiing, stand-up paddle boarding, etc. Each has its own metric view. I created a custom one for Weight Training. Watch faces are available for download for free and update in seconds seamlessly. The lack of a touchscreen is a blessing, given they are really not that beneficial on such a small device. The buttons work better and once you get the navigation down, its fast. Smart watch features are everything you need – mail, texts, calendar, weather, alerts.. All work seamlessly (like most smart watches these days)
*UPDATED (Photos too): STILL the Smartest smartwatch purchase ever.

I’ve had my Fenix for a week now, and have gone trail running in the mountains, indoor cycling, and generally just lived in it. It does exactly what I want it to do and more. I run about 30 miles a week (mostly trail) and bike another 30-50 (all road).
Love this thing!

I’ve slowly become a bit of a watch aficionado. Thankfully when I decided to get a watch case for my dresser, I went with a 12 slot unit instead of 6 as I originally planned, because I quickly surpassed that, and currently sit at 9 watches. I have a number of fashion/dress watches, and with the Fenix 3 HR watch, three smart watches.

This is the best fitness watch I’ve come across. I had a fitbit hr, then a fitbit surge, and I’ll never buy a fitbit again. This blows the surge out of the water! The optical hr is much more accurate than the fitbit, however I love the chest strap! The watch has an unbelievable amount of configurations and setting and is surprisingly easy to use. Also, I’m a 5’6″ female with small wrists and yes it’s a big watch but I don’t mind it at all! Looks great on my wrist. I was concerned about size but I think it is just one for a person with small wrists. I love the all black but I did order the blue Garmin silicone band and it looks great too!
