The DEWALT DCA1820 20V MAX Battery Adapter for 18V Tools is compatible with most DEWALT 18V tools and allows for use of 20V MAX compact batteries in most DEWALT 18V tools. This adapter requires use of DEWALT 20V MAX charger, as this adapter will not fit into DEWALT 18V chargers. Battery and charger are sold separately. Use with DCB201, DCB203, DCB203BT compact batteries. Do not use adapter with premium batteries (DCB200, DCB204, DCB204BT, DCB205) in 18V Compact drills DC970, DC759. Includes: (1) 18V – 20V MAX Adapter.

The adapter works great with any 20v MAX battery, and with most all 18v tools.
Excellent purchase, works great, well thought out!

Great adapter, thanks to Dewalt for adding in a little backwards compatibility. I couldn’t be happier, this thing adds new life to the dozens of 18v tools I already own and at the same time, allows me to upgrade to the 20volt system without starting over from “tool one”. I bought the new 20v weed wackier as well as a cordless blower, both of these come with 5Ah batteries and these high capacity batteries, coupled with one of these adapters, have about 3X MORE LIFE than the original 18v old style barreries ((1.8Ah) and really make your old tools shine again. I just bought 2 more of these!
So far it’s been working great. When I bought this I made sure it …

After my 18v batteries no longer held a charge I upgraded to the 20v series. I still have several 18v tools that I do not own in the 20v option. This saved me from having to buy several other replacements. So far it’s been working great. When I bought this I made sure it was compatible with my compact batteries and tools. Requires use of DEWALT 20V MAX* charger – Adapter will not fit into DEWALT 18V chargers – Do not use adapter with premium batteries (DCB200, DCB204, DCB204BT, DCB205) in 18V Compact drills DC970, DC759.
It’s rare that a redesign doesn’t leave the consumer high and dry

Thank you Dewalt!!!!!
Much appreciated adapter!!!
This has to be one of the best tools I have. I now have 4 of them. I have had many 18 volt dewalt for years and have purchase numerous 20 and 60 volt tools since needing them. I can now use the 20 volt batteries in my 18 volt tools. I did notice however that I cannot place the 20/60 volt batteries in this adapter but am very happy with these. There are a few tools that are configured so this adapter will not fit into them. I assume Dewalt knows best and have not tried to reconfigure the adapter by grinding or sanding like I could see would be an easy modification.
20V upgrades 18V tools – a good move for me
I’m very happy with that I chose to buy 20 batteries as my 18V wore out (normal). The extra power is wonderful. I’ve been using the 20V in my tools for 18 months now, and decided to invest in converting them all for convenience. 20V batteries are much easier to insert and remove than 18V batteries… and this applies to the 18V converters even more so. I think the 18V converters (this product) are made to stick extra hard, so they never pop-out when you really want to pop-out the 20V battery. That’s the right trade-off… but also encouraged me to buy adapter to finish out all my tools.
Works with any battery in my tools, Jig saw, Reciprocating saw, Circular saw and Drill

This adapter works very good in my Circular Saw, Reciprocating Saw, Jig Saw and Hammer Drill with a 1.5Ah and 4.0 Ah so this really do the job, more power. I really recommend this DCA1820 Adapter for this tools. See how it looks in my photos on my 18v tools.

If you want to use the flex volt battery with this adapter you will have to trim the flange on the front portion of the battery housing for the adapter to fully slide in and engage the battery. I haven’t tried trimming off the front tab horns on the adapter to work with the flex volt battery. Either way it will void the product warranty but running the flex volt battery in an 18 volt tool brings the tool to life! If you trim to close you will open a small hole in the case on which you will have to add a little silicon in over the trimmed flange flush to the battery,
