I won’t lie, this thing makes me smile when I walk into the kitchen. I bought the metal-bowl version (KSM150) to make cookies after my hand mixer started to smoke during a particularly intense doughing session. I’ve used it primarily for that and pizza crusts. Things that can be mixed with a handheld whisk, I opt for that instead.

I’m an early adopter of KA Stand mixers.

I had my first Kitchenaid Stand mixer in 1985- resplendent with it’s glass bowl and fine form; I felt like a pro. I was a young mother and it was a gift from my MIL. I LOVED that mixer. I owned it for over 20 years before bequeathing it to a dear friend (still in great working shape). Then I bought a lavender colored Artisan about 4 years ago – stainless steel bowl and white coated fixtures. I LOVED that mixer too! Then we moved from Maui to NYC and that sucker was too big to ship. Once again, she found her way to a new baker, chef, cook friend… then I made a brief foray into the world of the rising bowl mixer – the one where the mixer part doesn’t lift up and out of the way. That one I did NOT love. Not one bit. It was loud and the ‘feature’ that made it a professional model was lame to me. So I returned it and ordered this electric blue model. So far:

Five Stars

I don’t like this thing……. I LOVE it! Of course I’ve never had one before so I might not know as much as some but I do love it. I first ordered a bigger motor pull up model. Before it was delivered I happen to see one in a local store and realized that there was no way this thing would fit on my counter. I live in a small cabin (we own a campground) and I have zero counter space let alone storage space. So I sent that one back when it was delivered. I thought maybe I would just get a better handheld mixer but I just couldn’t stop wanting a kitchenaid stand mixer. I found this one and it sounded perfect. Not as strong a motor but also not as tall nor heavy. I received it about four days ago. I am now a baking fool! I’ve already made three cakes, 2 different kinds of cookies, four loaves of breads and a double batch of pizza dough. Wow, my husband will need to go on the biggest loser soon. This model is certainly strong enough to handle bread dough with the dough hook, easy for cakes and cookies. I did order the extra Flex Edge Beater and used it today to make one of my cakes. Love it!

Best kitchenaid by far; so much better than my pro 600 series that broke after just 3 yrs of medium use. So quiet, perfect power to design balance, beautiful all on its own. My favorite thing in the kitchen!!! I got the susan g komen ceramic polka dot bowl to go with it and they are sooo gorgeous!

I loved the color so much I redecorated my kitchen to match it!

It’s so beautiful! Photos don’t do this mixer justice. It’s a stunning blue green color, that’s more aqua than teal. It’s such a versatile workhorse. LOVE IT!!!
