I was looking for a great sound bar to go with the new 50 inch LED tv I’d purchased. Prices for stereo surround systems can run from a few hundred up into the thousands and I personally wasn’t looking to spend that much. I wanted something that was better than my tv’s speakers without the price of a premium system. I read a LOT of reviews before deciding on this new VIZIO sound bar. Amazon was offering an extra $30 off the normal price for Prime members and I couldn’t beat $148 for this system anywhere. This sound gets great reviews from a lot of techies and I can honestly say that it’s a great system. It’s not just a great sound bar for the money. Instead, this sound bar beats other costing WAY more than this. It has a solid construction, a wireless bluetooth subwoofer and a remote control. To test this sound bar, I played lots of movies (like Godzilla, Transformers and anything else with lots of high pulsing sound) and there was no distortion whatsoever. The sound is crisp and clear and it’s so much easier to make out what actors are saying when they tend to mumble. Recently I had a guy over who works as an eletronics installer setting up home theaters for people. He was so impressed with this sound bar that he said he’d make it a point to pick one up. He mentioned that he’s installed sound bars for other people from all the big brand names and most of those systems didn’t sound as good as my VIZIO. If you want a great sound bar and not pay and arm and a leg for it, get this system. It’s easy to set up and you’ll love it!

Just got this VIZIO SB3821 Sound Bar few days ago. It only took me an hour or so to install and hook up to my VIZIO 42″ HDTV I have hanging on the wall. The sound is really awesome! Hard to imagine this robust sound is coming from a speaker bar this size. The wireless Subwoofer really hits some deep lows…puts in a nice background bass sound to my movies. VIZIO hit a home-run with this set up! Would recommend this to my friend.

Excellent, easy to set up sound bar with a few drawbacks

I purchased this because the audio on my TV was poor quality, but I did not want the complex setup a 5.1 or 7.1 setup would require. Setup is very straightforward. Plug in the wireless subwoofer, then put the sound bar nearby. Plug in the sound bar, and connect it to your TV. I prefer the digital optical connection for the highest quality audio. However, the sound bar also supports USB, Bluetooth audio, as well as the classic red/white audio connections. Be sure to turn off your TV’s built-in speakers, and if you are using a Cable remote, you may be able to make the Volume up and down buttons control the sound bar directly.

Excellent! Good luck finding anything better for around this price point.

I worked at best buy for about 6 months a few years ago. Back then, there was almost no soundbar you could find that sounded half decent under $500. I decided to take a chance on this when it was on sale, and I am very impressed. The sound is very good quality (and I used to be an audio engineer. Not quite the quality of a studio monitor, but still very good) and the build quality is excellent. Bass can be heard (and felt, when turned up) and the highs are there. There is a very notable miss in the mids though, but it hasn’t bothered me too much. Only giving 4 starts because I wish there was more EQ control.

Advice for idiots!

This took us about 2 hours to set up, because we’re idiots. Once we realized the hole where the cable goes in the TV has a little door in it, I would say 5 minutes. The hardest part was getting into the packaging (which is good for protecting the sound bar) and the clean up. It sounds so good! We have a 5 year old 55″ Panosonic Viera Plasma and the sound has always sucked, but it has a great picture. This was an inexpensive way to remedy that! Love it!

Excellent for the price, after a few tweaks

I love this thing. Sounds good but I am no audiophile. What I really like is the functionality. All my universal remotes work fine with it. It turns off automatically BUT all you have to do is hit the volume button on any of the remotes and it turns back on. Easy as can be. The last one I had was a pain because you HAD you use the remote to do anything and universal remotes would not work well. Let me clarify though, I use the universal remotes to change the TV volume, and that still turns the sound bar back on – and it works well adjusting the volume with the TV. The only time I need the actual remote is to use another input (I have 2 TVs hooked up). If you do not have the remote you can easily change it on the sound bar itself (which is the feature my last sound bar lacked. It just works without you having to think about it, which is how it should be. Also has a built in compressor type feature that keeps commercials from blasting you out of the room. This might be the single best feature ever invented.
