Excellent upgrade from the Hero 3+ Black and a better value than the Hero 4 Black!

I just purchased the Hero 3+ Black Edition one month ago. When the Hero 4 came out I had to try it and I ended up returning my Hero 3+. Why did I get the Hero 4 Silver over the Hero 4 Black and the Hero 3+ Black?

Excellent camera. With a few minor drawbacks.

This is the first time I’ve ever had a high quality camera, so I will write from that perspective. I’m not going to compare it to prior models or break-down a comparison to other action cams. This review is just about the camera itself and how to possibly get the most of it.

If you’re like me when I was shopping for a GoPro, I had three main questions:

Best Value of the Hero 4’s. Doing Your Research/Homework = Smoother Camera Operations

Decided on the Hero 4 Silver based on not really having the need to shoot/view in 4k and the built-in rear lcd display helps a lot with aiming. I jumped on the Cyber Monday deal with Amazon’s GoPro Hero 4 Silver bundle. I’m really impressed with the photo/video quality of the Hero 4 Silver! In looking at the evolution of the GoPro Hero’s previous versions, I’m glad I waited for all the technology upgrades that the Hero 4 Silver has. It takes some time to learns all the camera’s functions, so be patient.

I love everything about this camera. It works amazing, and I’ve gotten just as many great photos by accident (using the video + photo setting where it takes a photo every X amount of seconds while videotaping) as on purpose. Totally worth the extra money for the LED screen (SO helpful). I HIGHLY recommend this product. I’ve taken it in the water, worn it bungy jumping, and used it kayaking (among other adventures) and have never had a problem with durability. The only recommendation I would make it to buy extra batteries because those won’t last you a hiking trip if you only have the one battery. I usually brought two batteries (a third just in case) and charged them at night. All of my photos were taken in New Zealand while studying abroad, and all except the one of the mountains were taken accidentally while using the video + photo setting.

Great camera with awesome features!

A lot of people ask themselves if it’s worth to buy the GoPro 4 because the GoPro 3+ also seems to be a very good choice. I’ve had the GoPro 3+ and now I bought the GoPro 4 so in this review I’m going to help decide.
